Information about our packaging

Model Color, Model Air, Game Color

The first range of Model Color was presented in 1992, and since then we have been using the same 17 ml. bottle, common in the pharmaceutical industry. The choice of this bottle was very successful and over the years other brands of paint have been introduced with the same or very alike packaging. The similar appearance of these other product lines is causing some confusion about the identity of the manufacturer. For this reason, since 2005 all colors marketed by Vallejo are presented with our name and logo imbedded in the base of the bottle. This logo warrants that the contents are manufactured by Acrylicos Vallejo.

The identification of the manufacturer is very important. The products manufactured by our company have been qualified as conforming to the European standards CE, EN71/3 and REACH, and to the USA certification ASTM, which guarantee our compliance with these norms established for the safety of the user as well as of the environment.

PREMIUM – Acrylic Polyurethane Color

The painting of the helmet is carried out in two parts, the first being the graphic design, where we apply the fluorescent and metallic colors – the consistency of these allows us to work with a tip size of 0.3mm on the general patterns and hues, Drying time is fairly quick if the paint is applied in fine coats, and once dry it responds really well to contact with adhesive materials such as masking tapes, etc. without the need for the use of intermediate varnishes.

For the second part, the artistic image of the skull, we use the basic colors which allow working with much more detail, they respond perfectly to high dilutions without losing color strength; the color black for example allows working with one drop of color to 15/20 of Reducer for painting in black and white, obtaining thus various shades of grey and varying the compressor pressure from 30-60 psi (2-4 bar) depending on the detail desired.

1. We prepare the helmet for airbrushing with White Primer 62.061 and then begin to spray the color Green Fluo 62.039 in the areas which should be left outlined with this color in the final design.
2. Next we place the 3mm. masking tape following the outline.
3. We spray a dilution of
Orange Fluo 62.033 and Golden Yellow Fluo 62.032 for the next outline. (más…)

1. Very soon the construction is done and our model can be primed. Being a multi-media kit, a good primer is necessary. As usual I primed my models with Vallejo Acrylic Primers and this case was no exception. In this case I used their grey primer applied in several layers in order to keep the great surface detail.
2. Once the primer well dry, I airbrushed the entire model in Vallejo Model Air (71.017) Russian Green. Airbrushed in several layers.
3. Since the beginning my idea was to paint my model in a winter wash scheme. So, the next stage was airbrush the entire model in Vallejo Model Air (71.001) White. (más…)

1. As usual I draw a few sketches to determine the final elements position. This helps me to refine the initial idea.
2. Combining two different kits from two different companies to produce a low documented vehicle demands some careful planning. Good references like the books from WWP about the GAZ-66 and Mil Mi-8 are extremely useful. Some CAD drawing is also needed in order to combine both models. We must be aware that the GAZ-66 from Easter Express and the Mil Mi-8 from Trumpeter were not made to combine each other and like that some minor adjustments will be necessary.
3. After a careful study it’s time to start cutting the Trumpeter model into pieces. We must be aware that the kit must be cut in the right places and there is no margin for error. That’s why the careful planning is so important. The cut lines were marked with plastic tape and scribed with a brand new needle… (más…)

SD. Kfz.10 Demag Typ "D7"

1. The new Demags (07201 and 07202) from a MK72 are a more than welcome kits. From several years the Sd.Kfz.10 Demag was widely neglected by the major companies. If I’m not wrong the only Demag available until now was the one from ACE Company, that is good, but these new ones from MK72 are much better. The kit is presented in a “classic” 1/72 box with a great draw in the box art and four views in the back as a color reference. The back provides the references for RAL and Model Air and Model Color from the Vallejo range.
2. MK72 did a great job. Besides the great box art, the instructions are very clear and concise. The plastic is top class and only some minor cleaning is necessary. The small decal sheet is very well printed and the decals flawless. Even in the tiny ones we can read the texts.
3. The construction is very straightforward. The parts almost do not need cleaning. Only some minor flash lines and ejection points need to be sanded off.
The parts fit are top class and very soon the construction is complete. The Demag is a great looking vehicle and MK-72 kit really captures that look. The tracks assembly can be tricky and some extra care is needed during this stage. (más…)
